Certification

instructor with students Deep Sea Divers Den offer PADI International Certification which is recognised in over 110 countries and is the largest training organisation in the world today. We specialize in teaching people to dive, with courses commencing Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.


Our most popular course is the 5 Day Open Water Learn To Dive course which includes 2 days pool and theory followed by 3 fun-filled days diving the magnificent Great Barrier Reef. The 5 day course comprises of 4 training dives and 5 pleasure dives, including 1 night dive. Our courses are unique in that our instructor will accompany you for the whole duration of the course. We also offer a 4 Day Learn To Dive Course, which enables you to complete your 4 training dives, but the opportunity for more pleasure dives is not available. Our vessels stay out to sea for 3 days and 2 nights to complete a 4 day learn to dive course means that passengers will need to be transferred between vessels.

Our vast array of bi-lingual Instructors enables us to offer learn to dive courses in English, Japanese and
German.

English courses commence Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.

Japanese courses commence Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday.

German courses commence Monday & Thursday.


Prices are inclusive of the use of all dive equipment supplied for the duration of the course. Meals. accommodation and bed linen once aboard the boat, free diving once certified, a night dive (weather permitting), all PADI certification costs, dive log book and an Optical prescription mask if required.

Medical

To ensure that you are fit, healthy and able to dive, all students need a current medical which complies with the Australian Standard 4005.1. For your convenience we have our own resident doctor, available every morning except Sunday. The medical is usually conducted on the first day of the course at an additional cost of AUS $35.00 which is payable direct to the doctor.

Book Deposit

We supply PADI manuals (in nine different languages) for the course and require a AUS $50.00 deposit which is refundable on return of the manual.

Photograph

Two passport photographs are required, one for the international certification card and one for the diver's log book. A photographer is available at our dive shop during the course at a cost of $5.00 AUS for 2 photographs.

Optical Prescription Masks

If prescription lenses are needed we have optical prescription masks available at no extra charge. A $100.00 AUS deposit is required which is refundable on the return of the mask.

Transport

Deep Sea Divers Den will provide transport to and from your accommodation within the Cairns City boundaries during the dive course in our courtesy coach. Pick up times are as follows:

8.00 am if starting the course.
7.30 am If going out to sea.

Dive students will need a pen, towel and swimming costume during the classroom and pool sessions.

Itinerary

no more training dives!Day 1 and 2:
Up and ready for an 8.00 am pick up in our courtesy coach From city accommodation. Around to The Divers Den where you will sit in on half a day of lectures and theory, then apply this knowledge to practical pool training sessions. We allow an hour for lunch and you will be dropped off at your accommodation at approximately 5.00 pm.

Day 3:
Rise and shine for a 7.30 am pick up from your city accommodation in our courtesy coach. Travel around to Deep Sea Divers Den where you'll grab your diving gear and from here you will be transferred down to the Cairns Harbour where you'll jump aboard Seaquest and settle in for a 8.30 am departure to the Outer Barrier Reef. Once we have arrived, you will complete Training dives 1 & 2. In your free time snorkel, sunbathe or simply relax. Lunch is served between 12 noon and 1.30 pm, with dinner at approximately 6.00 pm. After dinner, it's time to put all that knowledge to the test, to complete the open water diver exam.

Day 4:
Wake up to a 7.00 am morning wake-up call followed by a scrumptious breakfast. After breakfast, training dives 3 and 4 are completed. CONGRATULATIONS! You are now a certified diver. After lunch you and your buddy are free to do your first unescorted dive. After dinner grab a torch and your buddy and watch the Great Barrier Reef come alive, as you dive by night. (weather permitting). Lunch and Dinner are served at approximately the same time as Day Three.

Day 5:
Up at sunrise, dive The Great Barrier Reef as the sun breaks across the water. Sit down to a hearty breakfast, to keep your energy levels up for the rest of the day's activities. You are free to dive any of the scheduled dives until lunch, which is served at approximately 1.00 pm. After lunch unwind and enjoy the sea breeze as it relaxes you on the return trip to Cairns, arriving at approximately 4.30 pm. Our courtesy coach will transfer you to the shop to return your gear and then drop you off at your accommodation at about 5.00 pm. From here on it's party, party, party with a celebration dinner at a local restaurant.
